Role: Environmental Engineer supporting a greenfield pharmaceutical manufacturing facility during construction, startup, and operational phases. Objectives: develop, implement, and sustain environmental compliance systems, with emphasis on waste and water management, supporting GMP operations. Responsibilities: collaborate with project teams to ensure environmental permits, procedures, and training are integrated into design, construction, commissioning, and startup; support ongoing compliance, reporting, permit renewals, and environmental program administration; assist operational teams in environmental requirement adherence, incident investigations, and continuous improvement. Requirements: Bachelorโ€™s in environmental, chemical, or civil engineering; minimum 5 yearsโ€™ experience in environmental compliance, ideally within chemical or pharmaceutical manufacturing; knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations (EPA, TCEQ), permits (TPDES, POTW, RCRA); strong technical writing, data analysis, and cross-functional communication skills. Preferred: Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification; experience supporting environmental programs, permits, inspections, audits, and environmental calculations; prior engagement with regulatory agencies. High-Value: support for a pharmaceutical API manufacturing site in Houston, TX; focus on waste/water compliance under GMP, with involvement in facility design, startup, operational support, and continuous improvement; minimal travel (~5%). Work setup: on-site support with evolving responsibilities during startup to full GMP operations.
