Principal Data Engineer – Safety Analytics (Global Medical Safety)

Role: Principal Data Engineer within Global Medical Safety at Johnson & Johnson, focusing on developing and maintaining safety analytics tools using AI, Machine Learning, and GenAI on Google Cloud Platform. Responsibilities: design and optimize scalable data pipelines supporting pharmacovigilance, ensure data quality and compliance, lead GxP validation efforts, and develop APIs/microservices for safety analytics. Drive end-to-end data lifecycle management, establish governance standards, and promote cloud infrastructure automation via Terraform and CI/CD pipelines. Collaborate closely with safety scientists, data scientists, IT, and platform teams to deliver trusted, production-grade analytics solutions aligned with regulatory requirements. Requirements: Master’s in Computer Science or related field, 5+ years in data or analytics engineering, proficiency in Python and SQL, cloud architecture experience (preferably GCP), and expertise in data governance, validation, and APIs. Preferred: experience with AI/ML workflows, GenAI, regulated domains like pharmaceuticals or healthcare, GCP certification, and infrastructure as code.
