Role Summary

Principal Business Systems Consultant, AI Platforms. Lead strategy and execution of automation initiatives with emphasis on AI document generation solutions within AbbVie’s BTS team for R&D Global Therapeutics, guiding evolution of AbbVie’s AI platforms by collaborating with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to design, validate, and operationalize impactful AI use cases.

Responsibilities

  • Works with senior business unit clients to understand processes, drivers, and strategies; identify, prioritize, and communicate needs and opportunities for business process improvement enabled via technology; translate business requirements to BTS and functional domain requirements.
  • Investigates capabilities of existing systems and emerging technologies; connects capabilities to address business needs; interacts with senior Directors and staff.
  • Defines human and technology capabilities, contributing to training; mentors and participates in opportunities to improve processes or technology (BPM, outsourcing, etc.).
  • Accounts for creation and refinement of project requirements and BTO Demand initiation; anticipates risks, defines mitigations, and resolves changes to scope, issues, and risks for large-scale projects/programs.
  • Monitors multi-function objectives, measures performance against plan and budget, ensures alignment of proposed improvements and technical solutions with business needs and justification.
  • Navigate cross-functional teams through indirect authority; responsible for significant area of work including technical, financial, and quality aspects; delegates assignments across projects/programs.
  • Anticipates and responds to business needs; evaluates IT solutions using standard methodologies; ensures resources to meet program needs; mentors cross-functional teams; aligns with governance bodies.
  • Seeks strategic opportunities for IT capabilities across business areas; engages executives with strategic analyses and insights; experience managing project/program budgets of at least $1 million.
  • Builds relationships with business/technology leaders; serves as senior liaison and expert to IT; communicates business drivers and processes; subject matter expert in their domain.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 9 years’ experience; Master's Degree with 8 years’ experience; PhD with 4 years’ experience.
  • Knowledge in financial planning and evaluation, business plan development, investment modeling, portfolio planning, and SDLC; pharmaceutical industry knowledge preferred.
  • AI Product Management experience.
  • Proven experience delivering AI use cases, focusing on generative AI solutions.
  • Experience in software requirements definition and elicitation workshops; strong understanding of Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
  • Strong technical background; excellent organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred

  • Understanding of large language models and generative AI technologies.
  • Technical writing experience.
  • Experience in Life Sciences and/or GXP validated systems.
  • Tools: SDLC Operations, Technical Writing, Agile Scrum, Jira, Confluence, Microsoft M365 Suite, Strong Presentation Skills.
