As a Lead Business Analyst, a typical day might include:
- Translate business needs and project objectives into clear requirements; document problem statements with measurable business value
- Document โas isโ and โto beโ business processes; identify and document functional and non-functional requirements using standard methodologies
- Map information system connections and data flows; define data elements and support data mapping
- Write SQL statements to investigate and validate data; understand data structures and database concepts
- Support backlog prioritization and ensure clarity of requirements for development teams
- Collaborate with scientists and laboratory personnel to understand workflows and identify improvements
- Analyze data quality issues and partner with stakeholders to resolve them
- Independently define scope, approach, and methodology for complex BA assignments
- Contribute to the development and governance of business analysis standards, frameworks, and best practices across the organization
This Role Requires
- Bachelorโs degree; Masterโs degree in a life science with experience in computer science or information technology highly preferred
- 6+ years of experience in a research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or scientific laboratory environment
- Previous experience in the biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry is required
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), SQL databases, and data modeling (familiarity with laboratory processes, relational databases, and software development lifecycle methodologies preferred)
