Role Summary
The Bioanalytical Sciences group at Alnylam seeks a Principal Associate Scientist specializing in molecular PCR-based assays to advance RNAi therapeutic programs from discovery to the clinic. The role involves assay optimization, implementation, and sample analysis across biological matrices to support early through late-stage drug development. Located onsite in Cambridge, MA, the position requires strong molecular biology skills, meticulous attention to detail, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary project teams.
Responsibilities
- Implement gene expression assays to inform target engagement in biological matrices using RT-qPCR or dPCR.
- Evaluate and implement auto mated RNA extraction methods to improve consistency and performance of gene expression assays.
- Perform non-GLP sample analysis for emerging and established tissues to support RNAi therapeutic development from early to late stages.
- Design, troubleshoot and interpret experiments.
- Help implement and maintain procedures and controls to ensure consistent assay performance and reproducible data.
- Maintain meticulous laboratory notebooks, perform data analysis and QC, and communicate results to matrixed teams to support program advancement.
- Collaborate with team members to expand capabilities and improve workflows for molecular analysis and data reporting.
Qualifications
- Masterโs degree (6+ years of relevant industry experience) or Bachelorโs degree (8+ years of relevant industry experience) in molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or relevant field.
- Excellent lab technique and experience performing PCR-based molecular assays, with ability to work independently.
- Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and analytical software (e.g., GraphPad Prism, QuantStudio).
- Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to thrive in a team environment and manage multiple projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills to enable collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with biological matrices across preclinical species is strongly preferred.
