- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of automated assay workflows across modern laboratory platforms, applying expertise in mass spectrometry, chromatography, bioassay, electrophoresis, and ELISA.
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level scientists.
- Set priorities, coordinate work, and track progress on analytical and automation initiatives against key milestones.
- Independently design and execute studies to evaluate emerging automation technologies and troubleshoot existing systems.
- Lead complex investigations into automated method performance, supporting verification activities and continuous improvement.
- Transfer automated workflows to QC and partner functions (training materials, transfer plans, acceptance criteria).
- Engage cross-functional collaborators and equipment vendors to evaluate new technologies for QC fit.
- Prepare scientific reports, automation procedures, and SOPs; communicate findings, risks, and mitigation.
- Program and optimize automated liquid handling systems (e.g., Hamilton/Venus, Andrew+/OneLab, Cellario) and script in Python, R, or VBA.
- Troubleshoot analytical methods and automated instrumentation.
- Make independent decisions and recommend experiments/solutions.
This Role Requires
- 8+ years industry experience in analytical development, laboratory automation, and QC method lifecycle management (or equivalent).
- Hands-on expertise in automated liquid handling platforms and associated software programming.
- Scripting proficiency (Python, R, or VBA).
- Deep knowledge of QC analytical techniques (mass spectrometry, chromatography, electrophoresis, bioassay, or ELISA).
- Ability to work independently, design sound studies, and drive projects to completion.
Preferred
- PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related field.
- Experience in cGMP or cGLP environments.
- Familiarity with Cellario, Venus (Hamilton), or OneLab (Andrew+).
- Experience developing and executing technology transfer plans.
Physical/Gowning
- Ability to work in a laboratory environment.
- Operates in a GMP analytical laboratory; appropriate gowning and PPE required.
