Role Summary
Precision Medicine Technology Portfolio Sr. Manager is responsible for strategic leadership and operational oversight of a portfolio of technology capabilities that enable Amgen’s Precision Medicine strategy. This role partners with Translational Sciences, Biospecimen Management, Clinical Operations, and multiple Technology teams to define future-state needs, shape the technology roadmap, and guide delivery of high-value solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the coordination and ongoing refinement of the Precision Medicine technology portfolio - orchestrating alignment between business needs and technology capacity, including investment prioritization, resource planning, and performance measurement.
- Establish and manage PMed portfolio governance routines that enable clear decision-making and alignment across scientific and technology partners.
- Maintain a multi-year technology roadmap that reflects scientific strategy, operational needs, and emerging external trends.
- Translate scientific and translational use cases into actionable technology requirements, in partnership with Technology Business Analysts.
- Partner with scientific and operational groups to understand problems, find opportunities, and ensure business needs are articulated to enable technology solutions supporting end-to-end biospecimen, biomarker, and data workflows.
- Collaborate with technology architects and product teams to evaluate solutions, ensure interoperability, and support long-range architecture planning.
- Facilitate project intake, scoping, and prioritization in alignment with strategic objectives.
- Support delivery teams through requirements clarification, risk identification, and cross-functional alignment.
- Project management for high-value, business critical projects.
- Develop and maintain portfolio-level KPIs and reporting to track value, health, and delivery progress.
- Develop and maintain RACI to ensure effective partnerships across critical multi-functional activities.
- Drive communication and change management strategies to ensure adoption of new capabilities across scientific teams.
- Partner with stakeholders to assess readiness, support training, and ensure technologies integrate seamlessly into scientific workflows.
- Serve as a strategic connector across Precision Medicine, Translational Sciences, Clinical Operations, CfDA, Enterprise and R&D Technology, Data and Analytics, and Governance functions.
- Prepare and deliver concise, decision-ready materials for senior leadership engagement.
Qualifications
- Required: Doctorate degree and 2 years of relevant experience
- Required: OR Master’s degree and 4 years of relevant experience
- Required: OR Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant experience
- Required: OR Associate’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience
- Required: OR High school diploma / GED and 12 years of relevant experience
- Preferred: Experience working at the interface of science and technology within a biopharma or life sciences environment
- Preferred: Proven ability to lead portfolio management, strategic planning, or enterprise technology governance
- Preferred: Working knowledge of translational science, biospecimen lifecycle management, biomarker technologies, or related R&D domains
- Preferred: Understanding of data architectures, digital lab technologies, and informatics platforms supporting translational and clinical workflows
- Preferred: Strong critical thinking, systems thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
- Preferred: Ability to influence and collaborate effectively in a highly matrixed environment
- Preferred: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing executive-level materials
- Preferred: Demonstrated ability to inspire change, support adoption of new technologies, and manage competing priorities
