Role:
- Develop and characterize human iPSC-derived tri- and quad-culture models (excitatory/inhibitory neurons, astrocytes, potentially microglia) to study neuron-glia interactions in psychiatric contexts.
- Use multielectrode array (MEA) electrophysiology and automated patch-clamp (autopatcher) to assess network dynamics and single-cell excitability.
- Apply mRNA lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery for transient gene overexpression and perturbation (including CRISPR knockout/interference) in iPSC cultures.
- Study functional consequences of psychiatric risk gene variants on astrocyte function and neuron-astrocyte signaling.
- Perform single-cell or single-nucleus RNA-Seq and pathway analysis to identify disease-associated gene modules and hub genes.
- Integrate electrophysiological, morphological, and transcriptomic datasets to link genetic perturbations to neuronal network dysfunction.
- Design/execute rescue experiments using pharmacological and genetic strategies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally (computational biology, bioinformatics, medicinal chemistry, and academic partners).
- Present at major conferences and publish as first author.
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or closely related field.
- Experience with at least one: human iPSC culture/directed differentiation, primary neuronal culture, electrophysiology (patch-clamp or MEA), or neuron-glia biology.
- Strong publication record demonstrating independence.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States full-time; Lilly does not sponsor work authorization/visas.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Self-directed; strong oral/written communication and presentation skills.
- Interest in psychiatric disease mechanisms and translational neuroscience.
- Experience with iPSC culture, neural differentiation, co-culture system development.
- Electrophysiology platform experience (MEA and/or automated patch-clamp).
- mRNA/LNP delivery (plus); CRISPR tools (KO, CRISPRi/a, base editing).
- High-content imaging, immunofluorescence, automated image analysis.
- Single-cell RNA-Seq and bioinformatics/pathway tools.
- Strong analytical skills integrating multi-modal datasets.

- Anticipated wage: $58,000β$123,200.
