Responsibilities:
- Lead independent research projects to investigate pathogenic mechanisms in chronic fibrotic liver disease.
- Use single-cell and spatial transcriptomic datasets plus clinical datasets to uncover novel mechanisms driving fibrotic niche expansion.
- Apply mouse genetic and pharmacology approaches to investigate key disease drivers and establish novel ex vivo models for target identification and screening.
- With mentor support, design, conduct, and analyze in vitro and in vivo experiments to drive publication in top-tier journals.
- Publish in top-tier journals and present at scientific conferences.
Basic Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, or related discipline.
- At least one first-author paper published or accepted in a peer-reviewed journal.
- Proficiency in mammalian cell biology and biochemistry techniques.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on expertise in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and imaging (e.g., primary cell cultures, transfection/transduction, CRISPR/Cas9, microscopy, flow cytometry, immunoassays).
- Hands-on mouse model experience, mouse handling, in-life procedures, and tissue harvesting.
- Experience analyzing large-scale multiomic datasets (single-cell/spatial transcriptomics).
- Experience developing primary cell co-culture systems.
- Demonstrated leadership in hypothesis-driven research with quality publications.
- Success in cross-functional, highly collaborative teams; clear communication to varied audiences.
Role: Three-year postdoctoral training position at Gilead.
