About the Role
The Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Endocrine Disease Modeling will develop and characterize novel preclinical models of 21-hydroxylase deficiency (Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia, CAH). Working with teams across Research, Translational Sciences, and Drug Discovery, the role will build innovative, tunable animal models to evaluate therapeutics targeting HPA axis dysregulation.
Your Contributions
- Initiate and conduct a novel research project focused on developing postnatal and tunable mouse models of impaired steroidogenesis
- Design and execute in vivo studies using genetic (siRNA-mediated knockdown, AAV-based rescue) and pharmacologic approaches to model CAH
- Characterize endocrine phenotypes via hormonal profiling of HPA and gonadal axis markers
- Perform molecular and transcriptomic analyses (including single-cell RNA sequencing) to define HPA axis remodeling
- Conduct immunohistochemical and structural analyses of adrenal, pituitary, and hypothalamic tissues
- Evaluate behavioral phenotypes related to stress and sleep architecture in disease models
- Assess therapeutic modulation of ACTH signaling pathways using MC2 receptor antagonists, CRFR1 antagonists, and related approaches
- Prepare data summaries and present results to peers and colleagues
Requirements
- Ph.D. in endocrinology, neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology, molecular biology, or related life sciences; experience in biotech/pharma OR prior postdoctoral experience in academia
- Strong in vivo experience with rodent disease models
- Experience with genetic/molecular modulation approaches (siRNA, AAV-based gene delivery, or related)
- Experience with endocrine hormone quantification (immunoassays, LC-MS/MS)
- Knowledge of adrenal biology/steroidogenesis/HPA axis regulation (preferred)
Preferred Skills
- Transcriptomics (bulk or single-cell RNA-seq)
- Immunohistochemistry and tissue-based analyses
- Behavioral phenotyping (stress paradigms, sleep analysis, qEEG)
- Advanced experimental technologies for drug discovery
Benefits (as stated)
- Annual base salary: $89,800.00β$123,000.00; annual bonus target 20% of earned base salary
- Retirement savings plan (company match), paid vacation/holidays/personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits (medical, prescription drug, dental, vision)
Application Instructions
- Encourage to apply even if experience/qualifications donβt align exactly with the job description.
