Post-Doctoral Scientist β Advanced Resin Characterization for TIDES Manufacturing

Position Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with peptide research groups in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Identify and develop advanced resin characterization techniques for peptide synthesis.
- Conduct and perform chemical reactions in the laboratory and collect experimental data to support developing sustainable synthetic peptide projects.
- Identify and exploit new scientific concepts; demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and be self-motivated to contribute across multiple projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate innovative ideas into designs, prototypes, and project implementations.
- Provide strong written and verbal communication to address technical and business implications.
- Provide regular updates on project status, milestones, challenges, and next steps.
Top candidates can:
- Develop advanced analytical techniques characterizing resin support for solid phase peptide and oligonucleotide synthesis.
- Quantify internal resin mass diffusion effects on reaction efficiency.
- Demonstrate proficiency in solid phase and liquid phase peptide/oligonucleotide synthesis.
- Have familiarity with chromatography, mass spectrometry, optical spectroscopy, and peptide automation.
- Present research findings at conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Basic Qualifications:
- PhD in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- Familiarity with particle size/active site distribution, pore size, and volume measurements.
- Prior heterogeneous reaction system characterization; knowledge of intra-particle mass diffusion and its effects on reaction rate.
- Strong synthetic organic chemistry skills; hands-on lab experience.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Familiarity with reversed phase, ion exchange, size exclusion, and chiral chromatography.
- Experience with solid phase and/or liquid phase synthetic peptide and oligonucleotide processing (preferred).
- Ability to learn/apply technical knowledge as projects change; flexibility and prioritization skills.
Additional Information:
- Fixed duration employment (FDE) of 2 years, potential to extend; up to 4 years total. Not full-time regular employment (FTE). Travel 0β15%. Potential exposure to chemicals, allergens, and loud noises.
