Position Title: Post-Doc Scientist – Parenteral Product Network – TSMS Sterility Assurance and Microbiology Support
Responsibilities:
- Ensure reliability of manufacturing systems
- Search for and implement continuous improvements
- Drive technical projects
- Maintain processes in compliance with US and global regulations
- Design and develop improved Sterility Assurance and applied pharmaceutical microbiology processes and controls
- Provide technical/scientific support for aseptic manufacturing and laboratory methods
- Design and execute experiments to advance sterility assurance and applied pharmaceutical microbiology capabilities (manufacturing and laboratory)
- Work with site and cross-functional SMEs to align control strategies and continuously improve them
- Serve as SME leader for a sterility assurance topic area across the network (harmonize and disseminate knowledge)
- Mentor site SMEs/lab associates to build capability and talent
- Benchmark industry trends and new technologies; share best practices
- Partner with PR&D on technology/platform development and implementation for pipeline products; ensure fit-for-purpose control strategies
- Develop lab models for potential manufacturing solutions related to sterility assurance
- Design, conduct, and analyze statistically designed experiments
- Produce strong technical writing/documentation
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
- Build, maintain, and grow sterility assurance capability across the organization
Basic Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field
- Experience and proficiency in microbiology, molecular biology and/or aseptic operations
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals; presentations/posters at scientific conferences
- Authorization to work in the US full-time (Lilly does not sponsor visas)
Additional Preferences (preferred):
- Fixed duration: 2 years (extendable to 3 years; max 4 years)
- Strong scheduling/organizational skills; written/oral communication
- Proficiency in data analysis; strong prioritization/detail/decision-making; problem-solving
- Understanding of scientific method, microbiology, and general lab safety
- Minimal travel required; prior microbiology lab testing experience; effective time management
