Role Summary

Plant Engr I (Reliability) role focused on designing and maintaining manufacturing processes and supporting systems to improve equipment reliability, process efficiency, and safety. You will collaborate with the engineering team to implement technical solutions, manage projects, and ensure regulatory and company requirements are met. The role operates under close supervision with increasing independence as experience grows.

Responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact for engineering maintenance & utilities in assigned area.
  • Execute assigned tasks accurately and on time, following established procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards, and quality guidelines.
  • Contribute to the completion of routine work team-related tasks.
  • Coordination with maintenance/calibration/utilities, other plant engineers, validation and automation colleagues in support of manufacturing operations.
  • Make decisions that require choosing between limited options to resolve problems in standard situations.
  • Support data gathering, analysis, and reporting for ongoing projects.
  • Apply basic technical knowledge to support operational activities.
  • Respond to internal inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Assist in implementing approved changes under guidance.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide input when appropriate.
  • Engage in on-the-job training and professional development programs.

Qualifications

  • Required: High School Diploma (or Equivalent) and 6 years of relevant experience OR an Associateโ€™s degree with 4 years of experience OR a Bachelorโ€™s degree with 0 years of experience.
  • Required: Experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology industry
  • Required: Familiarity with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Required: Basic knowledge of engineering, drawings, and technical writing
  • Required: Basic understanding of mechanical equipment and utilities
  • Required: Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to learn
  • Required: Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Required: Fundamental technical knowledge of the principles and concepts of the discipline applicable to the role
  • Required: Ability to follow detailed instructions and established guidelines

  • Preferred: Experience using common AI tools, including generative technologies such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot, to support problem solving and enhance productivity

Additional Requirements

  • Physical/Mental: The role's environment is varied with exposure to hazardous materials and energy sources requiring the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Work involves direct contact with utilities and process equipment, including aseptic processing equipment, bioreactors, tangential flow equipment, centrifuge, chromatography columns, HEPA filters, high purity water systems including WFI, sanitary distribution, clean steam, process gases, and process control systems.
  • Non-standard Work Schedule/Travel: This role follows a standard Monday through Friday work shift; alternative schedules may be required to support project-related activities, and on-call duties may be required.
