Position Summary
The Planning & Purchasing Manager manages purchasing, replenishment planning support, supplier relationship management, and material availability for the Denver site to support customer fulfillment, production readiness, inventory health, and backlog reduction.
Core Accountabilities
- Manage daily purchasing activities; ensure purchase orders are placed, maintained, and executed accurately.
- Build supplier relationships to improve delivery performance, lead time reliability, responsiveness, and execution.
- Own supplier relationship management and supplier follow-up for assigned suppliers to improve on-time delivery and supply reliability.
- Manage open purchase orders, supplier commitments, delivery schedules, and supply risks.
- Monitor supplier performance, drive corrective actions, and lead supplier reviews/escalations/recovery planning.
- Maintain ERP purchasing parameters (lead times, safety stock inputs, etc.) and partner with Planning to translate demand and backlog priorities into purchasing/replenishment actions.
- Support inventory health: monitor stockout/excess/constraints; resolve supply issues with Customer Service, Warehouse, and Operations; provide daily/weekly supply risk visibility.
- Support month/quarter-end execution by mitigating material risks.
- Maintain accurate ERP data (Microsoft Dynamics AX or other ERP), track/report KPIs (OTD, open POs, lead time adherence, availability, supply risks) and partner on reporting (Excel/Power BI/Smartsheet).
- Lead continuous improvement; establish standard work.
- Manage, coach, and develop the purchasing team; collaborate cross-functionally (Planning, Customer Service, Warehouse, Operations, Finance).
Education & Experience / Skills
- Bachelorβs degree in Supply Chain/Business/Operations (preferred).
- 5+ years purchasing/procurement/planning/inventory/supply chain or materials management.
- 5+ years managing supplier relationships and improving delivery performance (preferred).
- 3+ years leadership/management (preferred).
- ERP experience required; Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Advanced Excel required; Power BI/Smartsheet preferred.
- Lean/continuous improvement, distribution, life sciences, or regulated-industry experience preferred.
