Role Description
Position Summary
Develops and implements long-term and short-term Value Stream Supply Chain strategies that align current capacity issues, supplier issues, process issues, etc. along with Demand Planning signals. Works collaboratively with Value Stream Buyers and other Value Stream team members to accomplish Value Stream Goals and Objectives. Works in a highly dynamic and changing environment and will highlight opportunities and options when conflicts arise.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing inventory carrying costs (Raw/Packaging Materials, API WIP, and Finished Goods) to corporate and site budget targets while satisfying customer demand with minimal over-supply and back orders. Responsible to initiate and lead Value Stream Supply Planning initiatives and strategies in order to achieve corporate production planning adherence metric expectations.
- Execute Purchase Orders to schedule supply of materials to meet production requirements and minimum inventory levels. Manage orders and delivery of orders day-to-day. Assess minimum order quantities against planning assumptions. Understand and manage risks to minimize impact on production schedules. Monitor the integrity of Bill of Materials. Support Inventory checks to validate inventory accuracy. Minimize obsolete stock.
- Understands and is responsible for managing the financial impact of Value Stream Supply Chain activities in relation to the overall Site objectives and goals. Actively participates in Budget activities and monthly absorption forecasts.
- Initiates and leads cross-functional continuous improvement projects. Monitors Value Stream key metrics and identifies opportunities for cost and process improvements and initiates action to resolve opportunities (i.e., planning and scheduling related). Must operate in and be able to adapt to an ever changing Supply Chain environment.
- Key member of product launch teams and initiates SAP material set up and process flow while meeting appropriate project milestones and timelines.
- Authors and reviews Standard Operating Procedures as required. Serves as a key audit contact for support area and participates in audits on a regular basis. Complies with all regulatory guidelines, documentation requirements and GMP's. Utilization of Operational Excellence Methodologies to identify and improve: product supply, inventory management, resource utilization, and or planning tools.
Functional/Technical Knowledge
- Applies extensive Supply Chain technical and industry-specific expertise and has full knowledge of the requirements of other related disciplines.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in utilizing analytical tools, spreadsheets and databases to develop reports for strategic planning and communication.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment to meet short- and long-term objectives.
- Ability to conceptualize, analyze and implement new methodologies in support of improving customer service, inventory management, and business alignment.
- Demonstrated ability to function and influence in a team matrix environment and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of Right First Time and Lean Manufacturing concepts and principles preferred.
Discretion, Latitude, Level of Independence:
Work is performed independently and with minimal direction. Interprets policies & procedures that typically affect Value Streams. Recommends changes to operating policies.

Guides the successful completion of major programs and may be in a team or project leadership role. Contributes to achievement of team, plant and/or global goals. Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Position has tremendous financial and Supply Chain impact to not only the Site but also to the network. Motivates others, generating commitment and a shared sense of purpose. Empowers others to contribute their best.
Teamwork/Influence:
Experience in coaching and mentoring others. Represents the Value Stream as the key point of contact on projects. Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal and external representatives concerning specific operations. Actively involved in daily operations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Education: Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Management, Business Administration or related disciplines applicable to Supply Chain Management, Information Technology, or Pharmaceutical Manufacturing; Green Belt and APICS certification highly recommended.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Materials Management
- Language Skills: Effective Written and Oral Communication Skills
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Applications and MRP/SAP system experience. Strong Excel experience
