Role Summary
This role ensures the safety of donors and the purity of plasma products during the collection process. The phlebotomist monitors the donor throughout the collection for equipment errors, donor reactions, or unexpected events and takes appropriate action when needed. The candidate must be capable of interpreting health history and vital signs in relation to company procedures. There is an expectation of cross-training toward plasma processing and donor screener functions with the goal of advancing to Advanced Phlebotomist.
Responsibilities
- Set up automated collection instruments.
- Monitor donors through the collection process.
- Disconnect donors from the automated instrument.
- Manage Level 1 donor reactions.
- Ensure product integrity of plasma units and associated samples.
- Disposition products and collect appropriate samples while ensuring product is frozen and stored per procedures.
- Stage units for shipment and samples for testing.
- Physically arrange samples and cases in the freezer to maintain organization.
- Represent the organization professionally, courteous, and attentive to service provided to all donors; collaborate with coworkers with respect and courtesy.
- Take initiative to elevate work-related skills with the goal of obtaining the Advanced Phlebotomist position.
- Cross-train and qualify for plasma processing and donor screener functions as a standard expectation of the role.

- Required: Phlebotomist qualification; ability to interpret health history and vital signs in relation to procedures.
- Required: Cross-training and qualification for plasma processing and donor screener functions; pursuit of Advanced Phlebotomist position.
