Role Summary

Phlebotomist responsible for ensuring donor safety and plasma product purity during the collection process, monitoring donors for equipment errors, reactions, or unexpected events, and performing related tasks to maintain product integrity and proper sample handling.

Responsibilities

  • Identify donors in accordance with SOPs.
  • Greet donors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Set up and readied the collection device appropriately.
  • Perform arm scrub to ensure donor safety and product purity.
  • Verify labels are printed clearly and correctly.
  • Label collection bottles as defined in SOPs.
  • Collect and label required samples at the donor bedside.
  • Inspect supplies for integrity and cleanliness; ensure no contamination.
  • Perform quality control of area equipment.
  • Operate automated collection equipment according to SOPs and manufacturer instructions.

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and interpret government regulations and customer specifications.
  • Able to work in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
  • Computer proficiency with intermediate skills in office programs.

Experience

  • Physically arrange cases and samples in the freezer to maintain organization for retrieval.
  • Perform quality control of equipment used in processing and packing areas.
  • Obtain backup samples as required for the laboratory or customers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • Assist with administrative duties to support Donor Center initiatives as assigned.
  • Attend scheduled staff training and meetings.
  • Additional duties related to supporting business needs as deemed necessary.
  • Monitor donors for signs of reaction before, during, and after plasmapheresis.
  • Document collection issues accurately in the center system or manually as required.
  • Disconnect donors from automated collection equipment and ensure donor is in good condition prior to release.
  • Complete all documentation accurately for machine and donation software systems.
  • Report unsafe situations to the immediate supervisor.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience as a phlebotomist in a blood or plasma collection center preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 months in the health field preferred or a combination of experience and education equivalent to this requirement.

Additional Requirements

  • Strictly adheres to all cGMPs, ADMA SOPs, and applicable regulations.
  • Annual GMP training.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment; proper cleaning between donors.
  • Ensures adequate supplies are available as needed.
  • Disinfects donor bed between donors.
  • Teaches donors to use the self-administered questionnaire and assists as needed.
  • Performs donor arm checks and records donor vital signs and weight.
  • Determines donor suitability and defers as appropriate; explains deferrals and timeframes to donors.
