Pharma Field Sales - Rare Blood Institutional Account Manager - Southwest

The Rare Blood Institutional Account Manager (RBIAM) represents Novo Nordisk, Inc. (NNI) to large community hospitals and other institutional settings within an assigned territory, with the goal of maximizing sales and positioning NNI as a leader in the hemophilia care market.
Responsibilities:
- Achieves predetermined sales goals; utilizes discretionary budget for maximum impact on sales
- Analyzes bidding policies/contracts to influence formulary status
- Performs promotional activities with discharge planners and helps implement programs for continued product use after discharge
- Identifies key individuals with greatest impact on sales and develops customized communication to build lasting business relationships
- Controls company property in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and legal obligations
- Analyzes and plans order of calls/routes to maximize sales opportunities
- Assesses managed care impact on prescribing decisions and modifies sales/promotional strategies accordingly
- Completes monthly and other reports to communicate territory activity
- Contributes to meetings, conventions, training programs, and displays
- Coordinates and implements special marketing/programs and special projects
- Distributes product samples in the sales territory
- Manages time and tasks to maximize customer effect and sales volume
- Recommends sales and marketing strategies based on customer needs, dynamics, trends, and competitors’ products/services
- Records call notes with sufficient detail for future usefulness
- Maintains clinical understanding of recent studies to address customer questions/objections
- Works with C-suite and P&T committees
- Anticipates and responds to customer objections, problems, and concerns
- Describes and markets NNI hemophilia products; tailors approach by customer/patient profile
- Informs hospital faculty, attending physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacy personnel, and other providers about approved uses and advantages
- Leverages sales/marketing resources and selects best materials for each call
- Participates in company-sponsored/approved training to improve product and sales/promotion knowledge
- Counters resistance to prescribing NNI products and uses appropriate messaging for maximum results
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum 6 years of direct selling experience to healthcare professionals in the pharmaceutical/biotech/medical device/healthcare industries required
- Recent sales experience in a healthcare system, hospital, or institutional setting required
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with senior audiences (C-suite and P&T committees) required
- Demonstrated leadership and decision-making ability required
Preferred Qualifications / Skills:
- Account management experience within the healthcare market strongly preferred
- Expert knowledge of hemophilia disease state preferred
- Aptitude for learning and communicating technical/scientific product and disease management information required
- Ability to facilitate trust and understanding
- Intermediate computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel, iPad) required
- Prior experience using sales data/call reporting software preferred
- Self-starter able to evaluate options and make decisions with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements:
- 30–50% overnight travel required; must maintain a valid driver’s license and be in good standing.
