The Position
- Achieve sales goals by implementing marketing and sales strategies to effectively sell and promote Novo Nordisk’s portfolio of products to HCPs and other office staff.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrate consistent territory-level sales competencies.
- Understand local payer market (Medicare/Commercial/Medicaid), payer coverage, prescription requirements, step therapy, coverage gap, copays, deductibles, and how these impact customer decisions.
- Understand territory customer groups/affiliations (IPAs, medical groups, health systems, local clinics) and tailor approaches to identify business opportunities.
- Analyze bidding policies/contracts to influence formulary status.
- Assess managed care impact on prescribing decisions and modify sales/promotion strategies.
- Build and use relationships with specialists and key hospital/purchasing/prescribing/formulary decision-makers.
- Research and tailor account plans; develop and execute territory business plans based on market conditions, competition, priorities, and patient needs.
- Gain and maintain business-relevant relationships (prescribers, support staff, pharmacies, clinic administrators) to drive patient-focused business impact using NNI-approved solutions.
- Use the Novo Nordisk Edge Selling Model (pre-call planning, engagement, adapt approach, call to action).
- Use analytical tools to create territory business plans and meet territory sales goals.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to implement plans and define accountability.
- Control samples/company property and manage discretionary territory and promotional budgets per policy.
- Maintain deep disease-state/treatment-continuum and clinical-studies knowledge; participate in sales/marketing meetings and trainings.
Physical Requirements
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and stay within Novo Nordisk’s points threshold.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or equivalent and/or PharmD required.
- Preferred: 1+ year in pharmaceutical/healthcare, sales, consulting, customer service, or military.
- Intermediate Windows/Word/Excel; prior sales data/call reporting software experience ideal.
- Self-starter; can evaluate options with minimal supervision.
- Leadership and decision-making aptitude.
- Solid understanding of diabetes and obesity; ability to learn and communicate technical/scientific information.
