Role Summary
Role: People Partner. Location: East Hanover, NJ (Hybrid). This is an on-site role, at minimum 3 days/week. The US People and Organization (P&O) team seeks a People Partner to support teams in the Development Business Unit of Novartis. People Partners act as trusted advisors, offering in-country policy expertise and knowledge to educate leaders, managers and associates on P&O topics across lifecycle events, employee value proposition, talent acquisition, talent management, learning, performance management, employee relations, rewards, pay and reporting. They implement P&O change initiatives at country level and collaborate with Business Partners and Senior People Partners, working across divisions to adapt support to evolving business needs.
Responsibilities
- First point of escalation for all leaders and managers on day-to-day P&O topics, providing expert advice, guidance and support. Coach and guide managers on role evaluations in line with local governance. May consult on Team Effectiveness including Psychological Safety.
- Implement P&O initiatives, supporting the overall P&O strategy. Ensure People Partnering processes are high quality and efficient. Champion culture and support implementation of corporate initiatives.
- Drive buy-in and utilization of data and analytics to identify risk and trends, applying insights to inform decisions and actions.
- Embrace customer feedback to understand the journey with moments that matter and make recommendations for continuous improvement. Implement enhancements to meet business and customer needs.
- Ensure compliance with local equity/EEO regulations.
- Manage the delivery of in-country transformations, consult with legal, advise managers through the local US process, oversee notice/handover meetings and the restructuring lifecycle.
- Manage the execution of large-scale organizational changes and day-to-day structure changes in line with country regulations/policies.
- Ensure local Employee Relations regulations align with local laws and Novartis integrity standards; manage Employee Relations within the client group, coaching and mentoring associates and managers.
- Manage internal movement offers and mobility.
- Promote ideas and solutions to the P&O network; establish strong cross-divisional relationships to understand needs and drive continuous improvement.
- Support and coach leaders, managers and associates on all P&O topics, promoting self-sufficiency in people processes. Provide coaching to Country P&O Business Partners on local policies and processes.
Qualifications
- Required: BA Degree in a relevant HR or related discipline.
- Required: At minimum 5+ years' work experience in P&O with breadth across P&O disciplines; at minimum 3+ years supporting a complex and matrix organization within the US. Understanding of global organizations is advantageous. HR experience supporting a pharmaceutical or biotech development team is preferred.
- Required: Strong interpersonal skills; proactive, responsive and able to work independently with all levels of the organization. Ability to handle multiple tasks in an agile, fast-paced environment. Stakeholder management and cross-boundary collaboration.
- Required: Coaching and mentoring; facilitation, influencing and collaboration across boundaries. Strong project management and people analytics skills; effective use of data/metrics/reporting to inform decisions. Employee relations, risk management and change management expertise.
- Required: Fluency in English (oral and written).
- Preferred: Experience working in a variety of organizations country-wide.
