Role Summary
The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for efficient and compliant execution of US payroll tax activities, including federal, state and local taxation and employee withholding, as well as W-2 reporting and remittance to taxing authorities. This role ensures tax compliance, supports audits, and collaborates with external tax vendors and internal teams; may coach others on complex tax issues and assist with downstream payroll activities as needed.
Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance Execution: Maintain full compliance with all applicable tax laws and proactively stay informed of regulatory changes impacting the company.
- Tax Process Ownership: Identify opportunities for process improvement and ensure all related documentation is updated accordingly.
- Business Partner Relationships: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal Centers of Excellence, external tax vendors, and government agencies.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelorβs Degree
- Required: Two years minimum in payroll tax experience, including, but not limited to, filing 941s
- Required: Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Lilly will not provide support for or sponsor work authorization or visas for this role, including but not limited to F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, J-1, H-1B, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, or L-1
Skills
- Preferred: Strong technical payroll tax, equity and accounting skills
- Preferred: Solid system aptitude, preferably with Workday Payroll
- Preferred: Strong, proven attention to detail with a customer service emphasis
- Preferred: Financial or payroll certification (CPA, CPP, etc.)

- Travel: Domestic travel less than 5%
