Role Summary

Patient Access Liaison - KRYSTEXXA - Rare Disease. Live in Miami, FL. Provide logistical, non-medical educational assistance to patients, caregivers, and site staff; support ongoing access to therapy and adherence; collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate insurance, financial assistance, and resources.

Responsibilities

  • Secure written or electronic patient HIPAA for patients in the assigned geography
  • Develop relationships with patients and caregivers by engaging via phone, text, email, virtual or in person connections
  • Assess individual needs of the patient and develop an education and resource plan of action to empower the patient
  • Educate the patient on KRYSTEXXA coverage and steps to gain prior authorization
  • Provide information on co-pay assistance programs, foundations, and free drug programs as needed
  • Educate prescribers and sites of care on coverage, prior authorization, coding, and billing requirements
  • Provide access and reimbursement education based on KRYSTEXXA benefits to physician offices and sites of care
  • Educate physician offices/SOC on KRYSTEXXA coverage and prior authorization steps
  • Investigate access challenges pre and post-infusion; support denied claims and claim reviews
  • Partner with Safety and PV to report adverse events and product complaints
  • Collaborate with Horizon cross-functional team including Case Managers, Site of Care, market access, matrix partners, and external vendors
  • Adhere to professional standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Doctorate degree and 2 years in patient services or access/reimbursement, or
    • Master's degree and 4 years in patient services or access/reimbursement, or
    • Bachelor's degree and 6 years in patient services or access/reimbursement
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Scientific background; ability to learn product and disease information
    • Nursing or clinical background a plus
    • Access and reimbursement for buy-and-bill products
    • Orphan or Rare disease experience
    • Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines and FDA requirements
    • Familiarity with internal and OIG Compliance guidelines
    • Ability to handle difficult patient cases and resolve hurdles
    • Team-oriented with strong communication skills
    • Ability to respond within 24 hours to prevent lapses in treatment
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to report meaningful regional activity
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Professional, proactive demeanor; strong interpersonal and strategic thinking
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Up to 50% travel, including overnight and weekend commitments
