Patient Advocacy
The Patient Access Liaison (PAL) is a field-based role providing education and reimbursement support to adult and pediatric patients and caregivers.

Key Responsibilities
- Primary point of contact for patients/caregivers for education on disease state, Ascendis products, and access/administration questions.
- Build and maintain relationships via in-person and virtual interactions.
- Assess individual patient needs and develop an action plan using approved resources to empower advocacy.
- Provide individualized education on disease state and product; educate on insurance coverage and therapy access process.
- Conduct medication administration education once coverage is established.
- Share information on affordability resources as needed.
- Manage long-term relationships with patients/care teams via tailored communication plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams; partner with Patient Advocacy and attend symposia.
- Partner with Patient Safety/Pharmacovigilance and Complaint Management/Compliance to report AEs and product complaints.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Up to 50% travel (including overnight and some weekend travel).

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree + 5+ years in direct patient support; ability to explain disease/product/access and reimbursement concepts at a consumer level.
- Preferred: Clinical/Allied Health degree/licensure + 5+ years clinical experience (pediatrics, endocrinology, neurology, ENT, orthopedics, or related).
- Minimum 2 years pharmaceutical industry experience.
- Preferred: bilingual.
- Preferred: orphan/rare disease product launch experience; experience educating patients/caregivers to administer injectable products; experience navigating reimbursement obstacles.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, FDA, and OIG compliance guidelines.
- Autonomy, cross-functional communication, adaptability; strong interpersonal and written/verbal skills.

Base Salary: $185,000–$190,000 annually.
