Role Summary

The Patient Access Liaison (PAL) is a field-based role that supports patients prescribed ACTIMMUNE by providing logistical and educational assistance to patients, caregivers, and office staff. The PAL works with patients, families, physicians, and staff to prevent and address barriers to medication access and to improve patient adherence, coordinating with internal teams to educate on navigating insurance processes and accessing treatment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide home based demonstration on proper use of medication including self-injection techniques.
  • Support and educate patients and caregivers about ACTIMMUNE patient services, including product support and information, dosing and administration, reimbursement services, and other education as needed.
  • Provide reimbursement education and support to physicianโ€™s offices with specific emphasis on Amgen By Your Side reimbursement support services.
  • Secure written opt-in and consent waivers to the patient support program for patients in the region.
  • Maintain routine and proactive contact with patients while proactively responding to specific requests.
  • Educate patients about insurance options when necessary to ensure continuity of care for the patient.
  • Help patients and families resolve logistical challenges with insurance and pharmacies when necessary.
  • Respond promptly to patient and patient family questions and concerns; providing resources to resolve patient/caregiver issues.
  • Connect patients with and warm transfer to appropriate financial assistance programs, if eligible and appropriate.
  • Connect patients with external support programs that may be available in the region, as needed.
  • Partner with Safety and PV. Report AEโ€™s and product complaints through medical information.
  • Adhere to professional standards compliance guidance, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Represent Amgen at external meetings.
  • Coordinate with case managers and home office commercial team.

Qualifications

  • Required: Doctorate degree AND 2 years of field-based experience in patient services/reimbursement
  • Required: Masterโ€™s degree AND 4 years of field-based experience in patient services/reimbursement
  • Required: Bachelor's degree AND 6 years of field-based experience in patient services/reimbursement
  • Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish & English
  • Preferred: Orphan or Rare disease experience
  • Preferred: Experience directly supporting patients
  • Preferred: Account management/institutional experience
  • Preferred: Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines and FDA requirements
  • Preferred: Familiarity with internal and OIG compliance guidelines
  • Preferred: Ability to handle difficult patient cases and resolve hurdles
  • Preferred: Ability to work in a team environment and manage communication with case managers and clinical sales associates
  • Preferred: Ability to respond immediately to prevent lapses in treatment
  • Preferred: Strong analytical skills and ability to report on meaningful activity in the region
  • Preferred: Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Preferred: Professional, proactive demeanor
  • Preferred: Strong interpersonal skills
  • Preferred: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Preferred: Facilitate or attend virtual/live patient/caregiver educational events

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 75%, including some overnight and weekend commitments.
