Role Summary

Patient Access Liaison (PAL) – Actimmune (Rare Disease) Mid West. Supports patients prescribed ACTIMMUNE with logistical and educational assistance, working with patients, caregivers, physicians, and staff to prevent and address barriers to medication access and improve adherence. Field-based role coordinating with internal teams to navigate insurance processes and access treatment. Must reside in OH, IL, WI, MI, or MN.

Responsibilities

  • Provide home-based demonstrations on proper use of medication, including self-injection techniques.
  • Support and educate patients and caregivers about ACTIMMUNE patient services, including product support and information, dosing and administration, reimbursement services, and other education as needed.
  • Provide reimbursement education and support to physician offices, emphasizing Amgen By Your Side reimbursement services.
  • Secure written opt-in and consent waivers to the patient support program for patients in the region.
  • Maintain routine and proactive contact with patients while responding to specific requests.
  • Educate patients about insurance options to ensure continuity of care.
  • Help patients and families resolve logistical challenges with insurance and pharmacies when necessary.
  • Respond promptly to patient and family questions; provide resources to resolve issues.
  • Connect patients with and facilitate access to appropriate financial assistance programs, if eligible.
  • Connect patients with external support programs available in the region, as needed.
  • Partner with Safety and PV; report adverse events and product complaints.
  • Adhere to professional standards, compliance guidelines, and applicable laws.
  • Represent Amgen at external meetings and coordinate with case managers and home office commercial team.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Doctorate degree and 2 years of field-based experience in patient services/reimbursement; or
    • Master’s degree and 4 years of field-based experience in patient services/reimbursement; or
    • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of field-based experience in patient services/reimbursement
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bilingual in Spanish & English preferred
    • Orphan or Rare disease experience preferred
    • Experience directly supporting patients preferred
    • Account management/institutional experience preferred
    • Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines and FDA requirements
    • Familiarity with and adherence to internal and OIG compliance guidelines
    • Ability to handle difficult patient cases and resolve hurdles
    • Team-oriented with strong communication with case managers and clinical sales associates
    • Ability to respond immediately to prevent lapses in treatment
    • Strong analytical skills and ability to report on activities in the region
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Professional, proactive demeanor with strong interpersonal skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to facilitate or attend virtual/live patient/caregiver educational events
    • Ability to travel up to 75%, including some overnight and weekend commitments
