The Patient Access Liaison (PAL) (field-based) provides education and reimbursement support to adult and pediatric patients and caregivers to enable timely, safe, and appropriate therapy access and correct product use.
Key Responsibilities:
- Primary point of contact for education on disease state, Ascendis products, and therapy access/administration questions.
- Build and maintain relationships via in-person and virtual interactions.
- Assess patient needs and create action plans using approved resources.
- Deliver individualized education on disease state and product.
- Educate patients on insurance coverage and the process to obtain therapy.
- Provide medication administration education once coverage is established.
- Share affordability resources as needed.
- Manage long-term relationships with tailored communication plans.
- Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams; partner with Patient Advocacy.
- Partner with Patient Safety/Pharmacovigilance and Complaint Management to report AEs and product complaints.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Up to 50% travel (including overnight and some weekend travel).
Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree + 5+ years in direct patient support; ability to explain disease state, product, and access/reimbursement at the consumer level.
- Preferred: clinical/allied health degree/licensure + 5+ years clinical experience in pediatrics, endocrinology, neurology, ENT, orthopedics, or related.
- Minimum 2 years pharmaceutical industry experience; bilingual preferred.
- Preferred: rare/orphan disease product launch experience; experience educating on injectable administration; experience navigating reimbursement obstacles.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, FDA requirements, and OIG compliance guidelines.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication; works autonomously and adapts to evolving needs.
