Position Summary
The Pathology Account Liaison connects pathology laboratories to ensure smooth communication, specimen handling, and client satisfaction. Obtains specimens to begin testing and communicates case updates and related escalations to internal teams, using independent judgment that impacts client experience and case activation.
Job Responsibilities
- Resolve 125+ discrepancies/day timely and accurately.
- Meet email turnaround time expectations.
- Quality check case work with a 96%+ average.
- Manage incoming attachments; document and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain compliance and good documentation standards.
- Support team members to complete daily caseloads.
- Meet departmental deliverables and goals.
- Support Caris Lab with quick resolution of specimen issues.
- Build strong customer relationships (professionalism, reliability, responsiveness).
- Respond to client emails/calls/faxes regarding tissue request letters, missing documents, and specimen ordering requirements.
- Apply attention to detail and problem-solving to resolve specimen concerns.
- Use the case manager system and internal software to enter, gather, and analyze data.
- Evaluate client concerns/complaints and specimen turnaround trends to recommend improvements.
- Meet regulatory requirements for the role.
- Execute other assigned tasks/projects.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years in a client services role using deductive reasoning.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic Internet use for business.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years customer support, laboratory, and/or healthcare/physician/hospital environment experience.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Healthcare/medical terminology proficiency.
- HIPAA knowledge and patient data privacy importance.
Physical Demands
- Sit/stand for long periods; repetitive motion; lift up to 30 lbs.
Training
- Job-specific safety and compliance training assigned based on role functions.
Other / Conditions
- Periodic travel; some evenings and/or weekends/holidays.
- Potential hybrid schedule after 3 months if eligible.
- Pre-employment process: criminal background check, drug screening, credit check (for certain positions), and reference verification.
