Position Summary:
The Pathologist Assistant I assists assigned Pathologists in pathology-related study activities, including pathology report review, macrodissection/microdissection of tumor areas, and may perform H&E (tumor/normal) marking with appropriate test ordering based on tumor site, or microscopic evaluation of CISH. Performs other assigned quality pathology tasks.

Job Responsibilities:
- Assist Pathology Operations with day-to-day pathology/microdissection department activities.
- Read pathology reports to determine specimen primary site.
- Identify tumor (and normal tissue when needed) on stained NFR slides and collect marked areas for molecular analysis (micro/macro).
- Assess tumor content (and normal tissue when needed) and order appropriate testing.
- Assess CISH stains for gene amplification (when needed).
- Maintain clean workstations; identify discrepancies/missing info and open them as necessary.
- Consult a Pathologist with case questions.
- Organize slides/data; generate tables; support requests.
- Prioritize/triage specimens; handle/dispose specimens and chemical waste per procedure and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality; perform QC/QA tests with documentation/logs.
- Report test-quality and/or safety concerns to Supervisor/Safety Officer.
- Use Laboratory Information Systems; maintain procedures and equipment (including microdissection equipment maintenance/troubleshooting).
- Communicate non-conformities; collaborate; may assist training.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in lab/clinical/medical laboratory science or medical technology with ASCP certifications (Cytotechnologist, Pathologist Assistant, Histotechnologist) or equivalent/internal training; OR be a Certified Medical Doctor (foreign trained acceptable); OR a BS/education meeting the stated semester-hour coursework and clinical lab training/tracked high-complexity training.
- High degree of care and adherence to clinical testing protocols.
- Experience: 0–1 years.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD; relevant pathology technical qualifications.
- Experience: 3–5 years.
