Packaging Technology Specialist (MSAT Packaging)
Responsibilities:
- Lead development and introduction of first-intent primary packaging for NPIs at External Manufacturing Sites.
- Provide packaging technology support to meet NPI milestones and launch dates.
- Define and deliver primary, secondary, tertiary, and distribution pack designs (pack briefs, design options, commercial/regulatory/manufacturing fit).
- Collaborate with suppliers on components, materials, printing/conversion methods, cost, and sustainability.
- Define/manage packaging functional testing (component interaction, child resistance, distribution performance, metrology) and review test data/specifications.
- Support Packaging Validation and Production with equipment selection, machine trials, process qualification, and control strategies.
- Assess/qualify packaging components, suppliers, and supplier change proposals; partner with Procurement and Supplier Quality.
- Manage bulk packaging shipping lane qualifications and assessments.
- Drive packaging improvements to reduce complexity, cost, and waste while maintaining quality/compliance.
- Provide technical consultation for non-first intent lifecycle changes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelorโs degree.
- 5+ years in pharmaceutical packaging development/equipment/operations across multiple dose forms.
- Sterile packaging field experience and/or shipping lanes qualifications.
- Cold chain experience.
- Packaging lifecycle management experience.
Preferred:
- Masterโs/postgraduate diploma in Packaging Technology (pharma focus preferred).
- NPI/project management experience and External Manufacturing Site transfers.
- Lean/5S and electronic batch records/MES; child resistance regulatory experience.
- Sterile packaging systems/sterility assurance knowledge.
- Experience with packaging design, distribution/child resistance/metrology testing, and technical specifications/drawings.
- QA/validation/regulatory knowledge (ICH, change control).
