Role Summary

Perrigo Company is looking for a hands-on Package Engineer Intern for our Global Operations Package Engineering team, located in Allegan, MI. Our team provides comprehensive package engineering support and packaging component expertise to the company through the design, development, and maintenance of packaging standards for various company and outside sub-contracting product packaging sites. As part of a global organization, this role will have the opportunity to work with corporate divisions, partners and global suppliers to develop national and store brand self-care product packaging for major US and Global retailers. You will be part of cross-functional project teams, this role will have the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills acquired through undergraduate studies and other experiences to support project launches. This role will gain valuable experience working closely with teams in both corporate and manufacturing environments to develop cost effective solutions that meet retailer needs and expectations, provide technical input toward achieving different objectives and communicate project status and results throughout.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and resolves packaging issues associated with packaging component quality, packaging equipment, and packaging line efficiency, participates in packaging component deviation resolutions, and coordinates, conducts, and documents packaging line trials for new or improved packaging components
  • Works closely with other functional areas and multi-functional teams such as Operations, Sales, Marketing, Procurement, Contract Customers, Contract Packagers, Master Data, Graphics and Quality to launch new products/packages, develops promotions and displays, develops cost savings initiative, and troubleshoots packaging problems.
  • Develops and prepares packaging documentation including, specifications, BOMs and engineering drawings
  • Conducts and documents package testing for component qualification.
  • Helps identify and support projects relating to process, systems, sustainability and documentation improvement opportunities
  • Utilize TOPS, AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD and SAP to generate packaging documentation. Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Work with other senior level packaging engineers in the department on higher level projects as they arise.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited Packaging Engineering or equivalent engineering program with a minimum of 2 completed years of undergraduate studies; preferred candidates have completed equivalent courses incorporating introductory knowledge in packaging distribution dynamics, packaging development technology, and packaging processes (PKG 315, 322, and 323).
  • Available to maintain employment through the length of the temporary assignment estimated for January 2026 through June 2026 or June 2026- December 2026.
