Description Overview
- Provides package engineering support and packaging component expertise through the design, development, and maintenance of packaging standards for company and outside subcontracting packaging sites.
Scope of the Role
- Develop and prepare packaging specifications, bills of materials, cost estimates, and rationalizations.
- Conduct and document package testing for component approval or troubleshooting.
- Partner with business units/functional teams to support new product/package launches, promotions, displays, and cost-savings initiatives.
- Resolve packaging issues related to component quality, packaging equipment, and packaging line efficiencies.
- Provide deviation resolutions related to packaging component quality.
- Coordinate, conduct, and document packaging line trials for new or improved components.
- Manage changes; resolve or escalate project issues using red flags or scope changes.
- Communicate project status, issues, and potential solutions to team members, managers, and directors.
- Participate in selection of new equipment and/or tooling.
- Up to 15% travel required.
Experience Required / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or other engineering discipline; typically 4–8 years packaging development experience in an operational environment.
- Thorough knowledge of cGMPs; working knowledge of USP Testing and CR protocol testing.
- Ability to execute testing protocols for a wide variety of packaging components.
- Independent execution toward goals and initiative in identifying projects.
- Strong analytical/problem-solving skills; interpersonal skills; commitment to customer service.
- Demonstrated knowledge of package design, testing, and packaging materials.
