Role Summary
Lead and support our Clinical Pharmacology Start-up team in initiating Early Phase clinical trials as an Outpatient Visit (OPV) Research Nurse. This is a full-time, office-based position in Dallas, TX, with a Monday–Friday schedule (5:30am–3:30pm) and rotating weekends. You will work with some of the world's leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies to establish the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of a new drug, providing healthy volunteer and patient care and ensuring the ethical conduct of the study.
Responsibilities
- Ensure that the dignity, health, safety, and welfare of participants is always given the highest priority.
- Be current with appropriate emergency certifications and company emergency policy and procedures.
- Respond to emergency situations based upon nursing standards.
- Utilize skills, knowledge, nursing diagnosis, and clinical judgement in order to provide a high standard of care for participants in clinical trials.
- Utilize nursing assessment skills to observe participant general well-being and potential adverse events. Document adverse events and take appropriate action as needed.
- Obtain Informed Consent and continue the ICF process by educating, explaining, and informing participants of study procedures.
- Administer investigational compounds (inclusive of parenteral) to participants according to the protocol and applicable regulations.
- Perform study related activities such as cannulation, telemetry, holters, vital signs, ECGs, venipuncture.
- All other duties as needed or assigned.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with strict adherence to study protocols; be prepared to adapt to changing priorities and collaborate effectively in a technology-driven, electronic data capture environment.
Qualifications
- Required: Associate’s degree or BS degree in nursing with current licensure in applicable state.
- Required: Fortrea may consider relevant and equivalent experience in lieu of educational requirements.
- Preferred: Paramedic, EMT, LVN, LPN or RN, preferred.
- Required: CPR/AED certified.
- Preferred: ACLS-certified upon entry to role. ACLS certification to be gained in role if not yet certified.
- Required: 0-1 year of related experience.
- Preferred: Previous Lead Or Charge Nurse Experience.
Skills
- Strong nursing assessment skills and clinical judgement.
- Experience obtaining informed consent and educating participants about study procedures.
- Ability to administer investigational compounds and perform related procedures (parenteral administration, cannulation, telemetry, Holter monitoring, vital signs, ECGs, venipuncture).
- Emergency certifications and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies.
- Experience working in an electronic data capture environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
