Role Summary

The Principal Engineer of Connectivity Service Management is a senior technical leader responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of GSK’s global network infrastructure. This role involves leading complex network projects, providing expert-level troubleshooting, and guiding the Network Operations team in best practices and advanced network solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical authority for network operations, providing guidance on complex network issues and solutions.
  • Support and provide feedback in the design, implementation, and maintenance of high-performance, resilient network infrastructures.
  • Mentor and develop network engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of GSK’s global network, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis of network incidents and problems.
  • Aid in the continual improvement of network management and monitoring tools to ensure proactive identification and resolution of issues.
  • Maintain robust network security measures to protect against threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Ensure network operations comply with relevant security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular security assessments, audits, and penetration tests, addressing any identified risks.
  • Stay current with emerging network technologies and industry trends, recommending and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance network performance, reliability, and security.
  • Develop and enforce network policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Manage relationships with network service providers, hardware vendors, and other external partners.
  • Collaborate with business units, IT teams, and stakeholders to understand and meet network requirements.
  • Communicate network performance, issues, and initiatives to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Required: 10+ years of experience in network engineering and operations, 5+ years in a senior or lead role.
  • Required: Knowledge of network infrastructure, protocols, and technologies, including Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and others.
  • Required: Experience in network security principles and practices.
  • Required: Experience with network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Preferred: Five years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a solid understanding of its technological trends.
  • Preferred: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Preferred: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Preferred: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Preferred: Passionate about enhancing the customer experience.
  • Preferred: Experienced in initiating and delivering large-scale operational programs.
  • Preferred: Skilled in operating systems and database administration.
  • Preferred: Proficient in agile delivery methodologies.
  • Preferred: Experienced in the DevOps operational model.
