Role Summary
The Principal Engineer of Connectivity Service Management is a senior technical leader responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of GSK’s global network infrastructure. This role involves leading complex network projects, providing expert-level troubleshooting, and guiding the Network Operations team in best practices and advanced network solutions.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical authority for network operations, providing guidance on complex network issues and solutions.
- Support and provide feedback in the design, implementation, and maintenance of high-performance, resilient network infrastructures.
- Mentor and develop network engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of GSK’s global network, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis of network incidents and problems.
- Aid in the continual improvement of network management and monitoring tools to ensure proactive identification and resolution of issues.
- Maintain robust network security measures to protect against threats and vulnerabilities.
- Ensure network operations comply with relevant security policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular security assessments, audits, and penetration tests, addressing any identified risks.
- Stay current with emerging network technologies and industry trends, recommending and implementing innovative solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance network performance, reliability, and security.
- Develop and enforce network policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Manage relationships with network service providers, hardware vendors, and other external partners.
- Collaborate with business units, IT teams, and stakeholders to understand and meet network requirements.
- Communicate network performance, issues, and initiatives to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Required: 10+ years of experience in network engineering and operations, 5+ years in a senior or lead role.
- Required: Knowledge of network infrastructure, protocols, and technologies, including Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and others.
- Required: Experience in network security principles and practices.
- Required: Experience with network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Preferred: Five years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with a solid understanding of its technological trends.
