Role Summary

Operator, Parenteral Visual Inspection (Days) at Lilly. Supports startup activities during site build-out, becomes a subject-matter expert in the Inspection department, and educates the team on proper operation. After the project phase, responsible for running the process, troubleshooting, and collaborating cross-functionally to maintain continuous supply of medicines while upholding safety and quality standards. Senior and Lead Operators will coordinate daily activities to meet capacity plans and develop their team’s capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership on the manufacturing floor, ensuring high levels of safety, quality, and productivity to maintain reliable product supply.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, model safe practices, and support HSE goals.
  • Act as administrator and technical leader for operations; demonstrate knowledge of procedures, comply with quality systems, and teach proper techniques.
  • Technical leader and primary point of contact for issue escalation on the shop floor; troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Administer technical training and ensure all operators are trained to perform tasks.
  • Operate equipment and perform activities required to meet production schedules.
  • Assist in checking execution documentation (Electronic Batch Record, SAP, Cleaning Logs).
  • Drive departmental objectives including safety, deviation reduction, productivity improvements, and training compliance.
  • Serve as a liaison between operations and support functions to coordinate efforts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to effectively communicate electronically, in writing, and verbally
  • Flexibility to troubleshoot and triage challenges
  • Computer proficiency (desktop software, MS Office)
  • A valid driver's license
  • Must pass a vision exam and be free of color blindness; 20/20 close vision acuity or equivalent

Education

  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred: STEM degree or certifications

Skills

  • Effective communication (electronic, written, verbal)
  • Technical training and teaching capabilities
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting on complex equipment
  • Familiarity with GMP concepts and operating in controlled environments

Additional Requirements

  • Must pass a fitness for duty physical exam
  • Ability to work 6am to 6pm on a 2-2-3 schedule; overtime as required
  • Ability to wear safety equipment and gown in a cleanroom (Grade C, ISO 8)
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship anticipated)
