Role Summary
Operator, Formulation (Night Shift) at Lilly. Responsible for supporting start-up activities during site development (which may include formulation, aseptic isolator barrier filling, and visual inspection) and, after startup, for running processes, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure a continuous supply of medicines while maintaining safety and quality. Acts as a site expert and provides leadership on the manufacturing floor, with opportunities for growth into leadership and technical roles.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership on the manufacturing floor to maintain safety, quality, and productivity and ensure reliable product supply.
- Maintain a safe work environment, support health, safety, and environmental goals, and model safe operating practices.
- Serve as administrator and technical leader for operations; demonstrate knowledge of procedures and compliance with quality systems and teaching proper techniques.
- Escalate and troubleshoot on the shop floor; act as a primary resource for technical issues and training of operators.
- Operate equipment and perform activities to meet production schedules; assist in validating execution documentation (Electronic Batch Record, SAP, Cleaning Logs).
- Drive departmental objectives such as improving safety, reducing deviations, increasing productivity, and ensuring training compliance.
- Support site leadership in building a diverse, capable site by delivering area procedures, quality processes, and controls for PAR areas.
- Coordinate with operations and support functions as a key liaison to maintain production continuity and quality.
Qualifications
- Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to communicate effectively (electronic, written, and verbal).
- Flexibility to troubleshoot and triage challenges.
- Computer proficiency (desktop software, MS Office).
- A valid driver's license; must pass a vision exam and be free of color blindness; equivalent to 20/20 close vision acuity.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship expected).
Skills
- Leadership and the ability to train/educate team members.
- STEM degree or certifications (preferred or as applicable).
- Formulation, dispensing, and material preparation knowledge.
- Knowledge of CGMPs and experience in manufacturing environments.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, or food processing industries.
- Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems and electronic batch release; continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma).
- Experience with highly automated equipment (inspection, packaging, filling, assembly) and SAP/Electronic Batch Records.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required; STEM degree or certifications may be applicable.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work 6pm to 6am on a 2-2-3 schedule; overtime as required.
- Must pass a fitness-for-duty physical exam; able to wear safety equipment and gown in a cleanroom (Grade C, ISO 8).
- Eligibility to participate in professional development opportunities (e.g., RCCC classes).
- Legal authorization to work in the United States; no sponsorship expected.
