Oncology Field Medical Director

Field Medical Core Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for assigned customers within a territory, coordinating with other Pfizer colleagues.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant therapeutic area/disease states and Pfizer medicines; provide TA/product information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a conduit for Medical Information and customer insights; respond to HCP requests per Pfizer guidance and share customer viewpoints.
- Understand Pfizer Medical Affairs priorities to develop medical content strategy and execute aligned Field Medical tactics.
- Communicate and collaborate across HQ Medical, Medical Information, and other Field Medical colleagues.
- Deliver approved medical communications across live/virtual and written/telephone channels.
- Optimize patient centricity using health literacy and cultural awareness.
Field Medical Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver approved medical content about Pfizer medicines in the designated therapeutic area (thoracic oncology).
- Identify and pursue engagement with priority customer segments.
- Provide truthful, accurate, scientifically supported information for unsolicited HCP medical requests per Pfizer policies.
- Field inbound HCP queries via triage process.
- Partner with Global Medical Affairs and R&D/GPD on clinical trial site identification, including under-represented patient populations.
- Provide medical support throughout Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR).
- Cultivate research/TA expertise and stay current on congress data and literature.
- Provide asset leadership.
- Understand and communicate study design/methodology/data analysis concepts.
- Lead territory engagement; communicate with local patient advocacy groups in collaboration with Corporate Affairs and HQ Medical Affairs.
- Serve on cross-functional committees; represent Medical Affairs leadership with associations.
- Mentorship (onboarding partner, advisory board, study lead mentor); participate in special projects.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelorβs degree in health science required.
- PharmD/PhD (6 years), MBA/MSc (8 years), or BA/BSc (10 years) relevant experience.
- Recognized subject matter expert; manage remote projects with strong prioritization/judgment.
- Matrixed team collaboration; lead through change; change agility.
- Problem-solve/network enterprise-wide; adopt digital tools and record medical interactions.
- Travel 60β80%; operate company car; work location: Remote β Field Based.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Terminal doctoral degree (PharmD/PhD or equivalent) highly preferred.
- Familiarity with SOPs/rules/regulations for Pfizer/customer interactions.
- Excellent oral/written communication; previous Field Medical experience.
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, accountability, clinical/technical skills, and conflict management.
Non-standard schedule:
- Occasional weekend work and overnight travel for meetings/congresses.
Compensation/benefits (as stated):
- Annual base salary range: $176,600β$294,300; bonus target 20% via Global Performance Plan; long-term incentive eligibility; 401(k) matching/retirement contribution; paid vacation/holidays/personal days; caregiver/parental and medical leave; medical/prescription/dental/vision.
