The Role:
The Oncology Account Manager (OAM) serves as a critical member of the Customer Engagement Team, responsible for meeting sales targets and tailoring resources to customer needs through a deep understanding of requirements. OAMs report directly to the Regional Business Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Holistically support and manage territory accounts by building relationships with physicians, allied healthcare professionals (Advanced Practitioners, Nurses, Pharmacists), and business stakeholders (CFOs, Office Practice Managers, Billers, etc.).
- Maintain deep understanding of territory, including Opinion Leaders and other influencers, treatment/utilization trends, payer and reimbursement dynamics, and competitive opportunities/challenges.
- Analyze business performance by creating and executing a comprehensive territory plan: develop account plans, deliver branded sales messages, execute planned programs, and schedule/follow up on medical education programs to achieve/exceed sales targets.
- Demonstrate clinical/disease/product expertise and deliver strategic customer education.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and execution of tactics.
- Implement processes for patient identification and treatment management.
- Develop and manage external relationships with account stakeholders, including HCPs and advanced practice providers.
- Leverage Oncology/disease-state awareness and regulatory/competitive changes to deliver agreed results.
Desired Experience/Education and Personal Attributes:
- Strong clinical selling, communication/presentation, team effectiveness, and strategic/forward-thinking skills.
- BA/BS or healthcare equivalent degree required.
- 5+ years pharmaceutical/biotech/medical sales experience; strong preference for Oncology/Hematology.
- Knowledge of the pharmaceutical marketplace and healthcare trends.
- Experience in a matrixed environment; strong negotiation/partnering/influencing skills.
- Experience managing large accounts and/or hospitals required.
- Successful product launch experience required.
- Prior pharma/biotech start-up experience preferred.
- Technologically savvy; use data/advanced analytics to drive results.
- Frequent overnight travel (occasionally weekends) and valid driverβs license with access to a personal vehicle.
