Role Summary
New Product Development (NPD) Engineering Co-op for DePuy Synthes Shoulder Reconstruction, based in Raynham, MA. Support design, conceptualization and market introduction of shoulder reconstruction implants and related instruments as part of a cross-functional development team, working with a senior engineer on product development activities. You will be encouraged to lead portions of projects, gain end-to-end product development experience, and collaborate with surgeons in cadaveric settings; the program includes mentorship and a flexible on-site/remote schedule (July–December 2026).
Responsibilities
- Support design, conceptualization and market introduction of shoulder reconstruction implants and the associated instruments and technologies as part of a multi-functional development team (Quality/Manufacturing/R&D/Marketing).
- Work with a senior level engineer supporting various product development activities that may include implant and instrument design, test fixture design, performing product testing and writing testing reports, creating and leading design control documentation.
- Collaborate with surgeons in a cadaveric setting to assess device performance and acquire surgeon feedback.
- Be encouraged to lead portions of the projects driving product development and value creation initiatives with mentorship throughout the program.
- Experience the end-to-end process of product development in orthopedic medical devices, with a flexible on-site/remote work arrangement July–December 2026.
Qualifications
- Required: Self-motivated with an interest in orthopedic medical devices and digital surgery techniques.
- Required: Enrolled in an accredited college, pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomechanical, or Biomedical, etc.).
- Preferred: 3-D modeling skills (NX Unigraphics & Solidworks).
- Required: Experience using hand tools and performing mechanical testing.
- Required: Proven problem-solving capabilities.
- Required: Ability to communicate technical information.
- Preferred: Previous co-op completed in R&D, manufacturing or equivalent at a medical device company demonstrating the abilities listed above (not required).
- Required: A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Required: Must be available to work full-time (40 hrs/week) during the Co-Op semester: January – June 2026.
- Required: This position is located in Raynham, MA. You must be able to provide your own transportation since this location is not within walking distance from the train station.
- Required: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future.
