Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and maintain professional relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers in assigned therapeutic areas to ensure access to current medical and scientific information.
- Present scientific information and education on disease state, therapeutic landscape, and AbbVie products across the product lifecycle to healthcare professionals.
- Support research initiatives and physician-initiated projects (e.g., site evaluation/identification, recruitment, investigator meetings, external expert identification, external collaboration management).
- Prepare the marketplace in new therapeutic areas by creating awareness and relationships in the medical community.
- Build and maintain internal cross-functional partnerships; work with in-field commercial teams to develop and execute account plans supporting shared business objectives.
- Serve as a medical/scientific resource by answering unsolicited medical questions and addressing other clinically related medical information issues.
- Provide ongoing training to medical affairs, field sales, and other internal personnel as directed.
- Practice strategic segmentation and optimal resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with corporate/divisional policies, including accurate/timely documentation of HCP interactions, and maintain annual expenses within assigned budget parameters.
- Live in the territory or be willing to self-relocate to the territory (Connecticut, Massachusetts).
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree required (Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, or APP such as Physician Associate or Nurse Practitioner) in a relevant scientific discipline; doctorate strongly preferred in a health science/clinical discipline.
- Typically 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and translate territory and corporate needs to support internal/external customers and achieve business and clinical objectives.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other software; excellent written/verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and teaching skills; ability to work independently and in a team; adapt to new structures/processes/cultures; strong planning and organizational skills; leadership/team skills.
- Must meet HCIR credentialing requirements for assigned territory facilities/organizations (may include background checks, drug screens, and immunization/vaccination proof).
- Ability to learn and convey clinical and non-clinical technical information effectively.
- Ability to engage audiences and help them understand/retain information.
- Willingness to travel up to 75%.
