The MSL/Senior MSL is a field-based scientific expert who strategically supports the research and business objectives of a designated therapeutic area across the product life cycle for a specific geography/territory. The MSL/Senior MSL serves as the primary communicator of AbbVie science with healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and maintain professional relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers to access current medical and scientific information.
- Present scientific information and education on disease state, therapeutic landscape, and AbbVie products across the product lifecycle to healthcare professionals.
- Support research initiatives and physician-initiated projects (e.g., site evaluation/identification, recruitment, investigator meetings, external expert identification, and external collaboration management).
- Prepare the marketplace in new therapeutic areas of interest by creating awareness and relationships in the medical community.
- Create and maintain internal cross-functional partnerships; work with in-field commercial teams to develop and execute account plans supporting shared business objectives; serve as a scientific resource to commercial partners.
- Answer unsolicited medical questions and address clinically related medical information issues for healthcare providers.
- Provide ongoing training to medical affairs, field sales, and other internal personnel as directed.
- Practice strategic segmentation and optimal resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with applicable corporate/divisional policies and procedures, including accurate and timely documentation for HCP interactions; maintain annual expenses within assigned budget parameters.
- Live in the territory or be willing to self-relocate within the territory (Alabama and Mississippi).

Qualifications:
- Advanced degree required (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, or APP such as Physician Associate or Nurse Practitioner) in a relevant scientific discipline; doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline.
- Typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and translate territory and corporate needs to support internal/external customers and achieve business and clinical objectives.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other software; excellent written/verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and teaching skills; ability to work independently and in a team; adjust to new structures/processes/requirements/cultures; strong planning and organizational skills.
- Meet HCIR credentialing requirements to enter facilities/organizations in assigned territory (may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof).
- Ability to learn and convey clinical and non-clinical technical information; ability to engage the audience and help them understand/retain information.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.
