Position Summary
- Perform molecular techniques including blood processing/buffy coat extraction, RNA/DNA extraction, PCR, Next-Generation Sequencing, equipment maintenance, inventory, and sample tracking/receiving. Work independently with minimal supervision; provide technical expertise, ensure data quality, and support process improvement and training.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain regulatory compliance (FDA, CLIA, NYS, ISO, CAP, etc.) and quality standards.
- Create and document competency samples; track and document employee training (including CAP checklists).
- Perform data analysis and concordance for competencies/training samples.
- Support high-complexity projects, process improvements, validation, and new assay implementation (proficiency + training delivery).
- Track continuing education hours; meet departmental deliverables/goals.
- Document QC activities, calibrations, maintenance; record corrective actions for deviations.
- Track/analyze performance metrics (turnaround times, issue reviews, case tracking).
- Complete accreditation pre-inspection paperwork/checklists; conduct periodic audits in the molecular department.
- Participate in QC/QA process improvements; capture/trend/analyze quality data monthly and drive actions.
- Provide training on regulatory and QC processes; accept other assigned duties.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant lab science/medical technology.
- 4+ years clinical lab experience; at least 1 year high-complexity molecular testing.
- Proficiency in molecular workflows and assay troubleshooting.
- Strong accuracy/efficiency across multiple assays; QC/monitoring knowledge.
- Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook); basic business internet; operate office equipment (fax/copy).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- FDA-regulated industry experience.
- Lab safety (biohazards/chemicals) and QC regulations.
- Fast-paced, deadline-driven; continuous improvement mindset; strong communication and teamwork.

- Job-specific safety/compliance training assigned based on role functions.
