Position Summary
The Molecular Geneticist is responsible for developing and using genetics and molecular biology techniques to identify potentially targetable alterations in tumors, and to examine inherited conditions such as cancer predisposition syndromes and other heritable conditions (e.g., drug metabolizers).

Job Responsibilities
- Evaluate genomic profiles of solid tumor tissue and liquid specimens (NGS-based).
- Evaluate genomic profiles from bone marrow specimens for myeloid neoplasms.
- Oversee and develop assays using RNA and DNA.
- Write supplements to standard clinician reports and advise on investigation strategies as needed.
- Interpret routine and esoteric molecular test results produced by molecular technologists.
- Develop and devise new testing strategies (primarily oncology).
- Work with IT to maintain and continuously improve the clinical database of genomic information.
- Oversee CLIA/CAP/ASCO-level validation of new molecular assays.
- Train and teach staff and healthcare professionals.
- Supervise molecular technologists and junior staff.
- Maintain and interpret quality control/quality assurance data.
- Stay current with scientific literature and training; participate in publication/research activities.

Required Qualifications
- PhD in Genetics or related field.
- ABMGG certification or Active Candidate Status in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics or Clinical Molecular Genetics.
- Broad understanding of molecular genetics and latest genomics research as it pertains to oncology.

Preferred Qualifications
- Laboratory operations/management experience (preferred).
- New York State Certificate of Qualification (CoQ) in molecular oncology and genetic testing.
- Strong problem-solving skills; ability to analyze complex data.
- Excellent written/verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions; self-starter.
- Strong organization, prioritization, deadline management; detail oriented.
- Team-oriented, professional disposition.
