Role: Mixed Modality (Peptide Upstream) Scientist within Lilly's Process Translation and Execution (PTE) team, focusing on transferring peptide upstream manufacturing processes from development to pilot/clinical-scale GMP production. Responsibilities: perform synthetic peptide chemistry, evaluate and optimize synthetic routes, support process transfer, ensure plant readiness, document technical procedures, and contribute to process improvements and troubleshooting. Requirements: B.S./M.S. in chemistry or chemical engineering; 3+ years in peptide chemistry or manufacturing, with experience in synthetic peptide APIs, solid phase synthesis, and analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, NMR. Preferred: knowledge of peptide reaction mechanisms, scale-up experience, familiarity with downstream purification, and process chemistry concepts. HighValue: development and transfer of peptide APIs (e.g., peptides, oligonucleotides, bioconjugates), GMP manufacturing, process scale-up, technical documentation, cross-functional collaboration, and work in manufacturing/laboratory environments. Location: initial in Indianapolis or Carmel, with permanent placement at Lilly Medicines Foundry in Lebanon, IN. Travel: limited (<5%).
