Role: Mixed Modality (Peptide Upstream) Scientist in Lilly’s new Medicine Foundry, focusing on process transfer, development, and manufacturing of peptide APIs for clinical trials. Responsibilities: perform synthetic peptide chemistry, evaluate and transfer upstream processes (SPPS, cleavage, precipitation), support process validation, author technical documentation, and contribute to process improvements. Requirements: B.S./M.S. in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field; 3+ years in peptide chemistry or API manufacturing, with experience in solid phase peptide synthesis; proficient in analytical techniques such as HPLC, LC-MS, NMR; ability to work with larger equipment and manage multiple activities. Preferred skills: deep understanding of peptide chemistry, process scale-up, downstream purification, and reaction optimization; strong communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills. High-Value: peptide API development, cGMP manufacturing, process transfer, pharmaceutical development for early-phase clinical supply, familiarity with synthetic chemistry tech and analytical tools. WorkSetup: initially at Indianapolis or Carmel, Indiana, moving to the Lebanon, Indiana, facility; limited travel (<5%) required.
