Medicinal Organic Chemist - Chemical Biology (BS or MS)

Role: Research Scientist (I/II) in organic medicinal chemistry at Novartis' Cambridge, MA lab. Objectives: design and synthesize small molecules to test biological hypotheses and probe disease-related pathways. Responsibilities: execute multi-step organic synthesis, analyze and interpret data, troubleshoot synthetic issues, and conduct follow-up experiments; collaborate within cross-functional teams and adhere to safety protocols. Requirements: BS/MS in chemistry with 0-5 years industrial experience; solid mechanistic understanding of organic chemistry, familiarity with synthesis, purification, and analytical techniques; problem solving and communication skills. Preferred: expertise in chemical biology, chemical probe synthesis, method development, and purification techniques; medicinal chemistry knowledge is a plus. High-Value: emphasis on chemical synthesis, molecular biology interrogation, and data analysis leveraging Data Science and AI in a drug discovery context. Work setup: onsite in Cambridge, MA.
