Role Summary

Medicinal Chemistry Co-op (Spring 2026) at Wave Life Sciences, Cambridge, MA. The co-op will join a team of medicinal chemists to support laboratory work, including planning, designing and executing multi-step synthesis, purification, and compound characterization, along with analysis of raw materials and final products. Training will cover a variety of laboratory techniques and instrumentation, contributing to the development of novel nucleic acid therapies across multiple disease areas.

Responsibilities

  • Perform multi-step organic synthesis, isolate newly synthesized chemical compounds
  • Analyze chemical compounds through various analytical techniques (UV-Vis, LC/MS, Polarimeter, NMR, etc.) and interpret experimental outcomes
  • Troubleshoot and optimize reaction protocols based on discussions with supervisor
  • Present data and summarized results both orally and in writing within multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Take detailed notes on experimental design and conditions; record results in electronic notebook and presentation format

Qualifications

  • Working towards a Bachelorβ€šΓ„Γ΄s degree in chemistry or a related discipline (e.g., biochemistry, chemical engineering)
  • At least two years of undergraduate education completed within a Chemistry discipline preferred
  • Completed Organic Chemistry courses (I and II or equivalent) with laboratory
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong organizational and time management abilities
