Medical Value & Access Director – CVS/Aetna Account Lead
What You Will Do
- Lead therapeutically aligned activities to develop strategic objectives and tactics with Medical for National Accounts and prioritized regional accounts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with targeted payers, pathways, GPOs, trade and specialty pharmacy population health decision makers.
- Integrate value and total cost of care models with the Field Medical organization to enhance payer/pathways engagement.
- Liaise between payer/pathways executives and senior Amgen executives.
- Apply knowledge of CMS CMMI and healthcare payment/service delivery models for the Enhancing Oncology Model (EOM).
- Synthesize customer insights to inform short- and long-term strategy and integrate customer research needs into evidence generation plans.
- Serve as Medical Value & Access lead contact for US V&A, GV&A, Government Affairs, CfOR, and Scientific Communications.
- Participate in strategy discussions with Market Access and Trade for payer engagements.
- Lead internal training to support comprehensive value across Field Medical and Scientific Communications.
- Serve as oncology/rare/orphan disease point of contact to account directors to embed Medical engagement priorities.
- Lead review and provide clinical input on utilization/prior authorization criteria for payer-developed medical policies and downstream alignment.
- Support managed care/payer advisory boards, congresses, and professional association meetings.
- Primary medical point of contact with Government Affairs on policy/legislation improving patient access and health outcomes.
- Support HCEI communication principles and adherence to relevant SOPs.
- Travel required (~30%).
Basic Qualifications
- Doctorate degree and 4 years of Medical Science or Payer experience OR
- Master’s degree and 7 years of Medical Science or Payer experience OR
- Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of Medical Science or Payer experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., D.O., or Master’s degree (other doctoral/master’s degrees considered)
- 5+ years payer/PBM/pathways/trade/specialty pharmacy customer experience
- 2+ years GPO experience
- Demonstrated impact/rapport with payer accounts
- Leadership experience (coach/develop talent)
- Deep knowledge of managed markets, pharmacoeconomics, population health, and healthcare policy/legislation trends
- Excellent strategic, communication, and presentation skills
- Partnering across medical and commercial teams to deliver customer value
