Role Summary
Medical Science Liaison - Specialty - Hepatology, field-based role covering FL, PR, GA, AL, MISS. Preferred residences in Orlando, Jacksonville, or Atlanta. Travel 50–75% of time. Responsible for execution of the external engagement strategy aligned to the Hepatology portfolio and implementation of the external engagement plan across the therapy area, engaging External Experts and HCPs in the field.
Responsibilities
- Identify External Experts (Liver Specialists), professional groups, decision makers, and other key stakeholders in Hepatology within the assigned geography.
- Respond to unsolicited information requests from healthcare professionals regarding GSK medicines and indications, ensuring medical information is factual, fair, balanced, scientifically rigorous, and compliant with standards and local laws.
- Disseminate safety information to the healthcare profession as directed; conduct scientific exchange for Hepatology medicines; deliver presentations to formulary committees and HCPs upon unsolicited requests.
- Maintain expertise in Hepatology and competitor medicines/vaccines.
- Attend medical portions of regional account planning/training sessions as required.
- Attend national/regional/local scientific/medical meetings to capture customer insights on data and disease states relevant to GSK.
- Support clinical development activities and programs, including Investigator-sponsored studies; collaborate with R&D to improve site performance; provide insights into research interests and field inquiries regarding investigator-sponsored projects.
- Conduct discussions with steering committees, advisory boards, consultants on topics related to GSK work, including clinical research activities.
- Provide scientific training for GSK sales representatives on Hepatology products; train HCPs to speak on behalf of GSK and assist with speaker training events.
- Partner with matrix colleagues across sales, marketing, and market access to align strategies with medical objectives and external experts.
- Demonstrate deep understanding of Hepatology and market dynamics to engage HCPs in meaningful scientific discussions aligned with medical strategy.
- Develop a clear strategic vision for the territory with mapping and planning of scientific engagements aligned to the medical strategy.
Qualifications
- Required: Pharm.D, Ph.D, DNP, or MD with a medical/clinical focus.
- Two or more years of experience in pharmacology/pharmacotherapy in humans with clinical application.
- Experience engaging in peer-to-peer Scientific Exchange with medical professionals and decision makers.
- Experience creating and delivering medical-based presentations.
- Experience identifying opportunities for medical engagement and setting scientific engagement goals.
- Experience developing relationships with external HCPs, KOLs, external experts, and internal stakeholders and decision makers.
- Willingness to travel 50–75% of time.
- Must reside within the specified territory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-Doctoral training in a clinical/pharmaceutical practice setting.
- Clinical experience with direct or indirect patient care decision-making authority (e.g., treatment protocol development, drug therapy guidelines).
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry, clinical education, or medical liaison work in Hepatology.
- Above-average computer literacy with familiarity in software applications.
