Role Summary

Medical Science Liaison - Specialty - Hepatology role focused on executing the external engagement strategy within the Hepatology portfolio, including implementing engagement plans and delivering scientific information to healthcare professionals and stakeholders in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Work with medical colleagues and partners to identify External Experts (Liver Specialists), professional groups, decision makers, and key stakeholders in Hepatology and the assigned geography.
  • Respond to unsolicited information requests from healthcare professionals regarding licensed or un-licensed medicines, ensuring responses are factual, fair, balanced, scientifically rigorous, and compliant with policies and local laws.
  • Disseminate safety information to healthcare professionals as directed; conduct scientific exchange for Hepatology medicines on label; deliver presentations to formulary committees and HCPs upon unsolicited requests.
  • Maintain expertise in Hepatology and competitor medicines/vaccines.
  • Attend and contribute to medical portions of regional account planning and training sessions.
  • Attend scientific/medical meetings to gather insights on data relevant to GSK products and disease states.
  • Support clinical development activities and investigator-sponsored studies; collaborate with R&D to improve site performance; provide insights into research interests and field inquiries.
  • Conduct discussions with steering committees, advisory boards, and consultants on topics related to GSK work, including clinical research investigations and publications.
  • Provide scientific training for GSK sales representatives and prepare HCPs to speak on behalf of GSK; assist with speaker training events.
  • Partner with matrix colleagues (sales, marketing, market access) to ensure patient- and business-focused strategies that add value to External Experts.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Hepatology and market dynamics; engage HCPs in meaningful scientific discussions aligned with medical strategy and objectives.
  • Develop a clear strategic vision for the territory, identifying, mapping, and planning scientific engagements in line with the medical strategy.

Qualifications

  • Required: Pharm. D or Ph. D, DNP, or MD with medical/clinical focus.
  • Required: Two or more years of pharmacology/pharmacotherapy experience in humans with clinical application.
  • Required: Experience engaging in peer-to-peer scientific exchange with medical professionals and decision makers.
  • Required: Experience creating and delivering medically based presentations.
  • Required: Experience identifying opportunities for medical engagement and developing scientific engagement goals.
  • Required: Experience developing relationships with external HCPs, KOLs, external experts, and internal stakeholders.
  • Required: Willingness to travel 50–75% of the time.
  • Required: Must reside within the specified territory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Residency of Post-Doctoral training in a clinical/pharmaceutical practice setting.
  • Clinical experience with direct/indirect patient care decision-making authority (e.g., treatment protocol development, drug therapy guidelines).
  • Pharmaceutical industry, clinical education, or medical liaison experience in Hepatology.
  • Above-average computer literacy with experience using software applications.
